Genre: Indie Rock
Bristol-based musician Nuala Honan shared “Slow Down,” the first single from her forthcoming second album, and it’s quite an elaborate, strong song with a genuine and driving sound.
It’s a complex composition that mixes feelings of love and anger with references to the legendary Irish myth “The Children of Lir.” At the same time, in light of current events, you can’t help but notice one particularly piercing line from this Australia-born artist: “
Our motherland is crying from great distance.” And everything in this song eventually turns into the sonic embodiment of this cry. Whether it’s the bright, sincere vocal, delicate at first, but growing into an emotional performance. Or the guitar work, starting with the light indie rock passages, and creating a soulful experimental soundscape in the end.
