Excellent English songwriter and guitarist Mark Elliott Driver presents his mellifluous EP “Alas,” a collaborative work featuring musicians from the UK and Chile.
The heartwarming song “Alas” is dedicated to the musician’s father who recently passed away. “My father's name is Alan, which sounds a bit like Alas, with wings he flies to the other side like a condor over the andes.” The composition starts softly with a bird chirping, echoing the theme of connecting with nature. Mark Elliott Driver sings in Spanish in such a delicate way, you can feel that his performance is full of love. The mellow guitar and light piano add smooth textures, and the strings flow in beautifully, forming a spellbinding fusion. The neat drumming marks the gorgeous climax where every sonic layer unfolds in harmony with each other. Be sure to check out “No Me Quedo Claro,” the soft and soothing second track off of the EP.
