“Blackflies” is part of a beautiful new double single by Toronto, Ontario band Burs.
With its absorbing bleak flavor, this indie folk ballad carries a melancholic atmosphere. The lulling guitars are nicely punctuated by the engrossing drumming. Bringing a pleasant softness, the vocals sound delicate and heartfelt. The other half of the single is called “Soil” and it channels the same mesmerizing, brooding aura.
